The main objective set by the client was to allow as much light into the dwelling as possible while still retaining the view across the valley to Bruce Hill. This was achieved by creating an internal open circulation space in the centre of the house. This allows south light to penetrate through the house to the entrance on the north side. Through stringent planning conditions the exterior of the house had to be kept traditional, in keeping with the surrounding vernacular. This traditional form was also continued inside the house married with some contemporary design and construction techniques
